Hot air balloons return to Luxor
On Tuesday, 60 vibrantly colored hot air balloons returned to Luxor’s skies after a two-day halt due to wind conditions. The balloons gave 1,600 tourists from around the world a breathtaking view of the city’s famous landmarks and picturesque landscapes.
The tourist season in Luxor and Aswan has been “exceptional” in the first quarter of 2023, with a 22 percent increase in the number of tourists compared to the same period last year, according to the state-owned Middle East News Agency.
Additionally, tourists are spending 18 to 20 percent more than the previous year.
Head of the Egyptian Federation of Hot Air Ballooning Companies in Luxor Ahmed Aboud stated in a press release that they launched weather balloons after ensuring that wind conditions were within safe levels.
Hot air balloon tours are a must-try for tourists visiting Luxor, as they offer a chance to explore the ancient wonders of the city from a unique and unforgettable perspective.
Nestled amongst the mesmerizing Karnak and Luxor temple complexes and the tombs of the Valley of the Kings, Luxor offers visitors panoramic views of the lush green agricultural fields and the majestic temples of ancient Egypt.
“We are very happy with the current season,” Aboud said. “The number of tourists is increasing, and the weather is good.”
He added that the federation is working to improve the safety of hot air ballooning in Luxor and to attract more tourists to the city.
“We are working to make hot air ballooning in Luxor the best in the world,” Aboud said. “We are also working to attract more tourists to Luxor, as it is a city with a rich history and culture.”
